6-foot-7 / 240 pounds
Jacksonville Beach (FL) / Jacksonville Episcopal
A reserve behind David Reeves, Schneider appeared in all 13 games, catching six passes for 19 yards and one touchdown. He played a total of 434 snaps after not appearing at all during his redshirt season in 2013.
Schneider entered camp as a reserve at tight end after recording seven catches for 32 yards in his career. Throughout camp he earned snaps with the 2s on offense.
With Braxton Deaver back, Schneider will likely be slotted as the third string option at tight end, but that doesn’t mean you won’t see much of him. At 6-foot-7, he’s a huge target who will factor in on various situational calls including redzone and third down plays.
How he ended up in Durham
Schneider committed to Duke early on, picking the Blue Devils over interest from Texas Tech, Cincinnati, Northwestern, and Harvard.
"When I started setting up my stats and info, Duke was probably my top choice," explained Schneider. "So when they offered I was ecstatic. They called me after I went to the camp. They invited me over the summer, met with some coaches, and did some drills. A month or two later, they told me to call coach Dayton. I called, and they offered me."
