Shelby (NC) / Shelby

2014 Review

Wray started all 13 games for Duke in 2014, appearing for nearly 700 snaps (698) and recording 39 tackles and 1.5 sacks.

2015 Preview

He returns as the starter at defensive tackle - the only returning starter on the defensive line.  This year, however, Wray has a bit more depth behind him which should help with preventative maintenance and staying healthy.  He begins camp alongside A.J. Wolf, Kyler Brown, and Britton Grier.

TDD Projection

Wray has the experience, strength, and athleticism to factor in and, more importantly, log a high number of productive snaps for the Blue Devils.  We expect him to be the every down starter and option at defensive tackle for Duke throughout the season.  He’ll sub out in various situations in favor of different players, but ultimately the job is and will remain his.

How he ended up in Durham

ray committed to Duke in June of 2011 and remained solid to the Blue Devils despite continued recruitment and offers from schools such as Minnesota, Wake Forest, East Carolina, and Kentucky.

Auburn also got in late and invited him for a visit, which Wray declined.

"We're projected Carlos to come in and be on the interior of the defensive line. He's continued to add some good weight and is very explosive. When I saw him on tape, I thought 'This kid is a play-maker'. That's exactly what we need on the inside of the defensive line. We need more and more big time players at that position, and we feel Carlos gives us that." - Rick Petri
