Blue Devil sophomore Grayson Allen is expected to see his role expand in a big way this sason as Duke looks to replace four starters from last year's championship team. On Tuesday Allen was named to the 2016 Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year Award watch list.
The award is presented anually to the nation's top shooting guard with the watch list being narrowed down throughout the season.
As a freshman Allen appeared in 35 contests and averaged 4.4 points and 1.0 rebounds per game. He began to show signs of his potential beginngin with a 27-point effort against Wake Forest in the Blue Devils’ home finale.
The 6-foot-4 Florida native put things together in the Final Four, averaging 12.5 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the field and 10-of-11 from the line in the pair of games as Duke claimed its fifth national championship.
