Blue Devils Roll In Final Tune Up, 119-54

Luke Kennard scored a game high 25 points while Chase Jeter added 13 points and 11 rebounds as Duke rolled to an easy 119-54 exhibition victory over Livingstone on Wednesday.

The Blue Devils will open the regular season next Friday against Siena at 7:00 PM EST.

Hopefully, Coach Krzyzewski’s team will be at full strength after captain Matt Jones was held out of Wednesday’s game with a groin pull and senior Amile Jefferson was lost in the first half with an undisclosed ankle injury.

Jefferson did not return, but was seen leaving the bench to head to the locker room for an extended period before returning to the bench under his own power, but clearly limping.

The multiple injuries accounted for the only drama in Cameron on this night as Duke jumped out to a big early lead and never looked back.  The Blue Devils led by 37 at the half and were able to get just about any look they wanted against the hopelessly overmatched Blue Bears.

All told there were six Duke players in double figures led by Luke Kennard (25), Brandon Ingram (24), Grayson Allen (19), Chase Jeter (13), Derryck Thornton (11), and Marshall Plumlee (11).

Much of Duke’s offense came in the paint where the tremendous height difference between the two teams was exploited as the Blue Devils recorded 54 points to Livingstone’s 24.   Overall Duke shot 56.2 percent from the field and 39.3 percent from the perimeter.   The team recorded 23 assists on 41 made baskets.
