Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski made a trip to Texas yesterday to watch five star DeSoto (Tex) center Marques Bolden.
Bolden has already hosted the Duke coaches for a handful of in-home visits and officially visited Duke earlier this season. Following the visit it seemed as though the Blue Devils were moving into the lead for the 6-foot-10, 240 pound senior.
But time and the recruiting process drug on and Bolden began to entertain heavy interest from a number of other schools including Kentucky and Kansas.
Each of those teams has differing approaches and roster makeups which has seemingly delayed the Bolden announcement as he evaluates both current and future roster makeups in the three destinations.
Bolden is described by Scout.com’s Evan Daniels as “one of the nation's elite centers. He's strong, athletic, scores with his back to the basket and strikes an imposing figure on defense as well. He's both productive and has the room to expand his game even more, placing him ahead of he frontcourt field.”
The five star prospect is ranked as the nation’s top center and the No. 12 overall prospect in the class of 2016 according to Scout.com. He has been named to the McDonald’s All-American and Jordan Brand All-Star games.
