Recruiting Recap: Hornbuckle may have been the quietest recruiting process of the entire 2016 class. He picked up several good offers, but really burst on the Duke recruiting radar following his mid-June performance in Durham at camp.

“At Duke I won all my one-on-ones. I grabbed the attention of a few visiting colleges and Coach Cutcliffe. All the coaches loved my get off, my ability to get off the ball on the line. That’s the main thing I kept hearing."

His camp performance mixed in with a strong junior film, earned him an offer before leaving campus. 10 days later he committed.

Hornbuckle chose Duke over offers from Ball State, Ohio, and Miami.

Projected Position: Defensive End

2016 Projection: Hornbuckle will need some time to add a bit more strength and refinement to his game. He’ll redshirt in 2016 and will look to get up to around the 250 pound range before getting the nod on the two-deep. Once he’s got the requisite size, he’ll push to factor in as an edge rusher.

Quotable: “They are a team that’s about family. I’m all about that family atmosphere. That’s how it is at my high school. Coach Cutcliffe is a great coach. I think he’s a great person as well.”
