It’s been a good month for head coach David Cutcliffe’s program as the Blue Devils have earned three commitments from the class of 2017 in the last two weeks.  On Tuesday night we spoke with the newest addition to the class, three star OT Jacob Rimmer.

Jacob Rimmer visited Duke over the weekend as part of the program’s second junior day of the Spring.  After returning home to Tennessee, the 6-foot-7, 270 pound Milan (Tenn.) High School standout decided he’d seen enough.

“The coaching staff is amazing,” said Rimmer.  “That is a huge reason why I committed.  In talking to the coaches, that’s when I knew Duke was something special.”

The Blue Devils first found Rimmer last October and began to establish contact along with other schools such as Miami, Mississippi State, Louisville, North Carolina, Vanderbilt, and Wake Forest.  Each program offered, but Duke’s pitch stood out behind the delivery of assistant coach Jeff Faris.

“There was really no recruiting pitch.  He just let the facts and the visit speak for themselves.  My mom and I went to Junior Day and as soon as we walked in, we knew Duke is where I belonged.”

On Tuesday Rimmer called Coach Faris and let him know of his decision.

“Everyone at Duke was stoked!  I’ve been getting messages for an hour from all the coaches.  My family is very proud and supportive of my decision as well.”
