With only three games remaining, the Blue Devils have an outside chance at the ACC regular season title while the host Pittsburgh Panthers are looking to solidify their chances for an NCAA Tournament bid.
Though the Panthers have a strong 19-8 overall record with an 8-7 recording in the Atlantic Coast Conference, Pittsburgh is an unremarkable 0-6 against Top 25 opponents. The most recent loss to a ranked opponents came on Wednesday when No. 11 Louisville rolled to a 67-60 win in Pittsburgh.
Meanwhile, after an early conference season slump, Duke has won six of seven games and sit just one game back of both Miami and North Carolina in the loss column of the ACC standings. Five of those wins came over ranked teams.
Following Sunday’s game against the Panthers, the Blue Devils will host both Wake Forest and the Tar Heels next week to finish off the regular season.
In the most recent contest, Duke ran past Florida State by 15 points to improve to 10-5 in league play and 21-7 overall. Marshall Plumlee led the way with his sixth double-double of the season, scoring 13 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
The game against the Seminoles was marred by Grayson Allen’s second tripping incident in a month after the sophomore appeared to make contact with Florida State’s Xavier Rathan-Mayes as the latter ran down the court. The ACC issued an official reprimand to Allen this week after reviewing the incident at the league office.
According to the various betting lines, the game is considered a “pick ‘em”. This is the final road game of the season for Duke.
Prediction: Duke 74, Pittsburgh 69
