Following his team’s lackluster performance in its final regular season road game of the year, Mike Krzyzewski will no doubt look for more fight from his Blue Devils as they host Wake Forest on Tuesday night.
Duke was bullied for most of Sunday afternoon’s game against Pittsburgh, falling behind by double digits early and never really challenging the Panthers throughout the remainder of the afternoon.
“Look, I love my team but I didn’t love the way we competed today,” said Krzyzewski after his team lost by 14. “Our guys have done a great job this year, but that was an out of character game for them.”
A reversal of fortune for Duke on Tuesday will start inside with Marshall Plumlee who posted 18 points on perfect shooting from the field and free throw line in Duke’s 16 point win over the Deacons in Winston Salem on January 6th.
In that first game the Blue Devils also got a game high 24 points from Grayson Allen as well as 23 points from Luke Kennard off the bench. Brandon Ingram added 17.
Duke will be looking to contain both the Deacons’ top scorer, Devin Thomas as well as guard Codi Miller-McIntyre. Thomas’ inability to control his temper in the first game turned a somewhat competitive contest into a blow out as the senior earned a technical foul that forced him to the bench. Prior to that, Thomas had torched Duke for 21 points and 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Miller-McIntrye has scored more than 20 points against Duke in back to back contests.
Prediction: Duke 84, Wake 72
