Duke will begin its quest for an ACC Championship on Wednesday afternoon against NC State in the second round of the conference tournament. The game will be broadcast by ESPN beginning at around 2:30 PM EST.
The Wolfpack advanced to the second round by dispatching Wake Forest, 75-72 behind sharpshooting Maverick Rowan who scored a game high 24 points on the strength of six made 3-pointers.
Meanwhile, the Blue Devils enter the post season having lost three of five games with one of those two wins being a somewhat uninspired slog over Wake Forest in Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Currently Duke sits at 22-9 overall and 11-7 in the ACC. Most post season projections have the Blue Devils between a four and five seed at the moment, which is why a few wins are almost a “must” in order to avoid slipping further in the soon to be named tournament bracket.
It won’t be easy against this Wolfpack team either. NC State played Duke tough twice in the regular season and might have won in Raleigh had it not been for an injury to ACC scoring champion Anthony Barber.
Coach K’s program is seeking its first ACC Championship since 2011.
