The defending national champions will begin pursuit of a 2016 title as a No. 4 seed in the West Region. Duke will open play against UNC-Wilmington. The game will be broadcast Thursday at 12:15 on CBS.
The top seed in the region is Oregon followed by Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Duke, and then Baylor as the five seed. The Blue Devils last faced Baylor in the 2010 Round of Sweet 16.
Duke lost in the ACC Tournament quarterfinal against Notre Dame, and currently sit at 23-10 on the season.
Meanwhile, UNC-Wilmington enters March with a 25-7 overall record and have won four straight which includes a run through he Colonial Athletic Association's post season tournament where the Seahawks defeated regular season co-champion Hofstra in the championship game.
The Seahawks and Blue Devils have two common opponents this season in Elon and Georgetown. The Blue Devils defeated the Hoyas in November by a basket. A few weeks later Georgetown beat UNC-W by five in Washington. Meanwhile, Duke blitzed Elon in a non-conference matchup, winning by 39 in Cameron Indoor Stadium. The Seahawks beat the Phoenix twice in regular season play by nine and then four.
