Duke earned another commitment from the class of 2017 on Saturday afternoon as three star safety Damani Neal announced his decision on Twitter

At 5-foot-11 and 185 pounds, Neal is rated as the No. 3 safety in the East region and the No. 45 overall safety in the country by Scout.com.

So what makes Neal so good?  We asked Scout.com’s Brian Dohn for more.

“Neal understands the passing game well and could fit in easily as a free safety because he has the ability to cover to outside of the hash marks. He reads the quarterback well in zone coverage and he breaks on the ball quickly. He is physical when he comes up to make a hit. He will be more active in the running game in college. He has good body control and size, and he can change direction well. He will need to improve his ability to jam and show he can cover in man when needed. He gets low in his backpedal and the speed of it will improve as he works on his technique more.”

Neal becomes the seventh commitment from the class of 2017 for Duke.
