Perhaps the top target on the board for the Blue Devils in the class of 2017, Wendell Carter, had a huge weekend at the EYBL’s fourth session in Atlanta.
In one of the most anticipated match-ups of the weekend, Georgia big man Wendell Carter (ranked No. 3 overall by Scout.com) matched up against the nation’s top overall prospect, DeAndre Ayton as CP3 took on California Supreme.
Aston posted a respectable line of 19 points and 10 rebounds, but it was Carter who stole the show. The 6-foot-10 rising senior from Pace Academy shot 13-of-17 from the floor (and 13-of-14 from inside the three-point arc) to finish with 30 points, 16 rebounds, and three blocks as CP3 held on for the one point win.
The second game of the afternoon saw Carter not needed nearly as much as CP3 rolled to a 21 point win over the Georgia Stars. Despite playing just 18 minutes, Carter finished with 14 pints and 10 rebounds while shooting 6-fo-9 from the floor. He also added three blocks and four assists.
In short, Carter is making a play to move up from his already lofty spot in the Scout.com rankings.
On the recruiting front Carter has scheduled an official visit to Harvard and will also visit Duke, Kentucky, UNC, Georgia, Cal Berkeley, and Kansas in the coming months.
