Brandon Ingram Drafted By LA Lakers With Second Pick

The Los Angeles Lakers selected former Duke forward Brandon Ingram with second pick in the 2016 NBA Draft.

The Los Angeles Lakers selected Duke forward Brandon Ingram with the No. 2 pick in the 2016 NBA Draft on Thursday evening.   Ingram becomes the 10th Top 3 draft pick the Blue Devils have produced since 1989 - the most of any program.

With Ingram going in the lottery, Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski has now produced 21 lottery picks in his tenure.   Coach K released a statement shortly after the Lakers made it official.

“The Los Angeles Lakers are getting both a great player and a great person in Brandon Ingram,” said Krzyzewski. “Brandon was a special player this year at Duke, and his best basketball is still ahead of him. I have absolutely loved coaching Brandon because he is a no-maintenance player who loves and respects the game. He is also a creative and thoughtful young man who comes from a beautiful family. I’m excited to watch his promising career with the Lakers get under way. Brandon will continue to get better and better. I’m proud that he’ll always be a member of the Duke basketball family.”

As for the Lakers, the franchise has already begun the hype for Ingram.
