DURHAM, N.C. – Duke freshman safety Javon Jackson, redshirt freshman defensive tackle Zach Morris and redshirt senior quarterback Thomas Sirk each will undergo season-ending surgery on Friday, announced on Thursday by Blue Devil head coach David Cutcliffe.
Jackson, a native of Tyrone, Ga., will undergo a procedure to address a fracture in his left foot while Morris, a native of Ringgold, Ga., who missed all of last season after suffering a torn right anterior cruciate ligament in June of 2015, will have micro fracture surgery on his right knee. Sirk will have his left Achilles tendon repaired after suffering a partial tear last week.
Dr. Claude T. Moorman III, Duke’s head team physician and the director of Duke Sports Science Institute, will handle the operation on Morris while Dr. Annunziato Amendola, also of the Duke Sports Science Institute, will perform the procedures on both Jackson and Sirk.
