Duke With Early Interest In Five Star 2019 PF?

One of the top prospects in the class of 2019 is Rochester (MN) power forward Matthew Hurt.  Though it’s early, we recently spoke with Hurt to get an idea of where his recruitment is heading at this point.

At this early point, which programs do you think do a good job with developing players like you?

I’d say Coach K, for sure.  he’s had a lot of one and done’s and his program is really good.

You mentioned earlier that you have several offers, are there any programs that you and your family have initiated contact to?

North Carolina reached out and told me to call them, so I called them and they came to watch me at Adidas in South Carolina.

Since you mentioned Duke earlier, have either your family or coaches heard anything from Duke in terms of potential interest for you?

I personally haven’t, but my AAU coaches might have, but I’m not sure though. They were coming to my games [this summer] though.

If Duke started getting involved in your recruitment, what would you reaction be?

That would be really good for me.  Coach K is a great coach, he’s one of the best coaches in America, I’d be really happy.

Who are you really going to lean on for help with your recruiting process ?

Well my dad is a part of my AAU program I play for, so he’s helped me a lot. Probably the coaches too, they’ve helped me a lot.

Which programs have you had the opportunity to visit before this point and which ones are you hoping to visit in the future ?

A couple of years ago I went Iowa State, Iowa, but I haven’t taken a lot of visits.  Down south it’d be cool to visit schools like Duke to see how their program works.
