After picking up a scholarship offer from the Blue Devils September 3rd, four star point guard Matt Coleman of Oak Hill Academy will now visit Durham officially on the weekend of September 16th.
He will also visit Stanford two weeks later (Sept 30) and then wait until the middle of October to visit Kansas (Oct. 15), Syracuse (Oct. 22), and Texas (Oct. 29th). The Longhorns were long considered the leader in this recruitment, though the recent slew of offers seem to have extended this recruitment to a certain degree.
Coleman also has offers from Arizona, Florida, Virginia, Washington, and Connecticut.
Over the summer the Oak Hill Academy prospect was the starting point guard on the U-18 Team USA squad which won gold at the FIBA Americas Championship in Valdivia, Chile. Prior to leaving for that event, Coleman spoke with TDD about the interest he had been receiving from the Blue Devils:
"Duke’s interest started right before AAU season, they had watched me play in the Dick’s Nationals and I got a call, Capel and Nolan had called my coach and my assistant coach and Quinn Cook had called me the other week too."
Further along in that discussion, Coleman provide a frank assessment of the Blue Devils' appeal to him:
"Duke is Duke. That’s Coach K and he’s one of the greatest coaches of all time, so it’s hard to say no to him."
