According to Greg's father Dave, who called me Labor Day morning, "Greg is going to keep his options open in college to play both sports."
The 6'1" Paulus is among the top ranked point guards
in the class of 2005, but is also a highly sought
after quarterback. Prior to this statement from his
father it was thought, however, that Greg would focus
exclusively on basketball in college.
While "keeping options open" does not mean that he
will definitely play both sports, it allows
speculation into his college decision. His final list
of schools include Duke, Notre Dame, North Carolina
and Xavier. If football is in his future, it is
unlikely Xavier will be his choice, as they don't have a football program.
Duke and Notre Dame are said to be the frontrunners,
and it is known that the Paulus family has met with
both Coach K and head football coach Carl Franks.
Greg is scheduled to announce his collegiate choice tomorrow at Christian Brothers High School in a noon press conference.
