Sophomore Thompson Out Two Weeks

One of the members of the ‘Super Six' recruiting class of 2002 has been forced to the sidelines with an injury. However the injury is unlikely to be a factor when practice opens for Midnight Madness on October 18th.

Sophomore center Michael Thompson has sustained a minor injury during his off season workouts which will force the 6-foot-10 250 pounder to the sidelines for nearly two weeks according to sources close to the Duke Basketball Office.

Thompson is expected to compete for improved minutes against fellow classmates Shavlik Randolph and Shelden Williams as a sophomore after spending the summer at Pete Newell's Big Man Camp working on his offensive skill set.

As a freshman Thompson contributed 1.3 points and 0.5 rebound per game in 16 contests for the Blue Devils.
