Shane Battier to Join Heat Front Office

MIAMI – The Miami Heat announced today that they have hired former Blue Devil and two-time NBA champion Shane Battier as the Director of Basketball Development & Analytics. His duties will include the development of analytics in evaluating all talent, including college, free agents and current Miami players.

Battier played three seasons as a member of the Miami Heat. Helping the organization to back-to-back NBA Championships, three consecutive Eastern Conference Championships and three division titles. 

As a member of the Blue Devils he helped the program win four consecutive ACC regular season championships, three ACC Tournament crowns, and the 2001 NCAA championship. The consensus National Player of the Year as a senior, his list of accomplishments also includes three National Defensive Player of the Year citations, two first team Academic All-America credentials and the 2001 NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player award.  For his 146-game career, Battier averaged 13.6 points and 6.1 rebounds per contest while his jersey No. 31 was retired into the rafters of Cameron Indoor Stadium on February 21, 2001.
