Berry, Tar Heels, race past Blue Devils 90-83

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- Joel Berry II scored 28 points -- including a critical late-game burst of seven straight -- to lift No. 5 North Carolina over No. 17 Duke 90-83 on Saturday night.

Isaiah Hicks - who missed the earlier contest in Cameron - poured in 21 points and 9 rebounds for the ACC regular season champion Tarheels.

North Carolina shot 51 percent and finished with a 15-5 edge in second-chance points, offsetting a busy night for Duke at the foul line. The Blue Devils made 28 of 35 free throws but missed 6 of 13 -- three by Grayson Allen -- in the final 3 1/2 minutes.

Player of the year candidate Luke Kennard finished with 28 points to lead the Blue Devils (23-8, 11-7)

Duke closes the regular season in 5th place and will await the winner of a Tuesday game between NC State and Clemson.
