McRoberts Makes it Official For Duke

Though the outcome wasn't in doubt, Carmel Indiana native Josh McRoberts held a press conference today at Carmel High School. There the 6-foot-9 combo forward announced that he will play his college basketball at Duke.

Accompanied by his friends and family, McRoberts officially became the second member of the high school class of 2005 to commit to the Blue Devils at a brief press conference held at Carmel High School.

"I'm really excited about playing for Coach Krzyzewski," McRoberts told the media. "He's a great person and a great coach. He and the staff made me feel that Duke is the best place for me. I feel now is the time to make a commitment so I can concentrate on my final two seasons as a Carmel High School basketball player."

Long rumored to be favoring Duke, McRoberts and his family spent last weekend in Durham for an unofficial visit that sealed the deal.

"I really liked the atmosphere at Duke, and I really fit in well with the players and coaches. All of the former and current players tell you how great it is to play for Coach K, and I'm excited to be part of that now." National Recruiting analyst Dave Telep believes that McRoberts will be another in the long line of success players to compete for Coach K and the Blue Devils.

"I think Josh McRoberts is an excellent fit for Duke. He's a long bodied big man with a skill package that will allow him to be versatile for the Blue Devils," said Telep. "He's a Top 10 prospect now and I'd guarantee he'd tell you that there's room for improvement. Athletically he's very good for his size and he moves well. He'd what you would expect Duke to recruit at the power forward position."

As a sophomore McRoberts averaged 16 points and 11 rebounds for the Greyhounds.
