Kaun Trims List To A Pair

Big new on the Alexander Kaun front. According to his high school coach, "Sasha" has trimmed his list to a pair. National Recruiting analyst Dave Telep confirms the news that broke in TDD's Tuesday night chat.

How about that, Alexander Kaun is down to a pair of schools with one visit remaining. On Tuesday, he made a decision to eliminate one school.

Michigan State was removed from his list and he's now considering just Kansas and Duke.

"Sasha cut down his list two schools," Florida Air Academy coach Aubin Goporo said. "He's got it down to Kansas and Duke and Sasha will be visiting Duke the 26th and makes his final decision after that."

Michigan State was considered a very strong player with Kaun and worked him hard all summer long. He visited the school last weekend and both he and his coach have nothing but kind words for the Spartans.

"He said that he liked Michigan State very much but he liked Kansas a little more. There's nothing wrong with Michigan State but he just like Kansas more. Tom Izzo is a good man and a good coach."

The decision wasn't an easy one for the native of Siberia who is ranked the No. 16 prospect in the Class of 2004 by TheInsiders.com.

"It was a very hard one; it was very close but it's something he has to do because he cannot go play for three schools," Goporo said. "That's why he made the decision today."

And so the drama continues. We've got a major league recruiting battle here with Kansas and Duke and it should play out sometime later this month.
