Devils Looking To Make Up Ground on OH RB

In his college quest Columbus Academy running back Ray Jones is looking for high level academics and athletics. Already naming the Stanford Cardinal as his top choice early on, Jones acknowledges that the Blue Devils offer a similar blend of gridiron and grades.

The 6-foot-0, 205 pound Jones lists his top four as Stanford, Duke, Boston College, and Maryland; he has visited Boston College unofficially to this point but anticipates a number of officials in the coming months. IN addition to offers from the top four, he's also picked up a chance to play at Michigan State.

On the field Jones, who is blessed with 4.34 speed, is a four year starter for Columbus on both offense and defense. Offensively he's the top tailback on the roster, while on the defensive side of the ball he spent three seasons as a corner back before moving to middle linebacker as a senior.

For the Blue Devils to make up ground, it will be important to get Jones on campus before he has a chance to commit to the Cardinal. "Right now we are waiting on their admissions people to tell me what the deal is, if that goes well it could end soon," Jones told

Off the field Jones carries a cumulative GPA of 3.60 and has already scored well (1230) on the SAT, making qualification to compete on the Division One level a non issue.
