Douglas and Wilson Named ACC Players of the Week

Duke's Chris Douglas and Rusty Wilson have been honored as the ACC's Offensive Back and Offensive Lineman of the Week following the Blue Devils' 41-17 win over Georgia Tech. League officials announced the citations on Monday afternoon.

Douglas, a 6-0, 190-pound senior tailback from Sherrills Ford, N.C., highlighted Duke's offensive play against the Yellow Jackets by rushing 30 times for a career-high 218 yards and two touchdowns. His touchdown runs covered 12 and 27 yards while his yardage total marked the third-highest single-game rushing total in Duke football history. With the 2,941 career yards on the ground, Douglas now needs just 11 yards to become Duke's all-time rushing leader.

Wilson, a 6-3, 320-pound senior from Britton, Mich., graded out a team-high 91 percent while playing 76 total snaps. The offensive guard helped open holes for Douglas' 218-yard performance while the Blue Devil offense rushed for a team total of 253 yards. Wilson also helped the Duke offense average 6.3 yards per play and was instrumental in Duke's red zone offense. The Blue Devils entered the game converting just 60 percent of their red zone opportunities into scores, but responded against Georgia Tech with three touchdowns and one field goal in their four chances.

Other award winners from the conference were Clemson's Leroy Hill (Defensive Line), Clemson's Tye Hill (Defensive Back), North Carolina's Michael Waddell (Specialist) and North Carolina's Ronnie McGill (Rookie).
