Georgia QB to Duke

Duke picked up its first commitment of the night by swooping down into the Peach State for a combo athlete who says it would be a dream to play for "Interim" Head Coach Ted Roof.

The Duke Blue Devils are playing very good football right now under "Interim" Head Coach Ted Roof. They may only be 1-3 under coach Roof, but they are playing with passion and desire. And it's carrying over into recruiting. One recruit that has taken notice is Chamblee (Ga.) quarterback Rodney Ezzard, Jr. and he has committed to Coach Roof and the Duke Blue Devils.

"Man they are playing so well right now," Ezzard said. "I really want to play for coach Roof. We have gotten pretty close in the recruiting process. He wants players to come in there and help them and that's what I want to do. I have the same fire and desire that he has. I know that I can play early at Duke and I want to play as a freshman. I also want to get a great education. Duke has what I want."

Ezzard, Jr., 6-0 and 175 pounds, plays quarterback and free safety. Chamblee finished the season at 6-4. He threw for 930 yards and 8 touchdown passes and rushed for over 400 yards and 5 TDs. Defensively, he recorded 80 tackles and 4 interceptions. At Duke, he will likely play cornerback or safety.
