Devils Blast Elon by 82

After opening the season with a sluggish and sloppy performance against Texas, the Duke women rebounded in grand fashion to set a school record against Elon University in a 108-26.

Senior Alana Beard scored a team high 19 points while Monique Currie added 16 to pace the Devils to their largest margin of victory ever, eclipsing a 78 point victory over Temple in 1998.

Beard, who finished the game 9-of-12 from the field, also added six rebounds and a team high nine assists. Meanwhile fellow captain Iciss Tillis added 13 points and six rebounds.

Freshman Brittany Hunter continued her strong season by hitting for 15 points along with Mistie Bass. Hunter also added eight rebounds while Bass logged the double-double with 10 boards.

None of the Duke starters played more than 27 minutes as the Blue Devils shot 58 percent (44-of-76) from the floor.

The 26 points allowed in the game and nine in the second half is the second lowest totals in program history. Duke gave up just 25 points and eight second half points to Davidson Feb. 12, 1979.
