Nelson Shines In Season Opener

After scoring over eighty points in the last two scrimmages of the season, future Blue Devil DeMarcus Nelson and his Sheldon High School teammates opened the season against Del Campo High. The 6-foot-4 scorer was once again the difference, leading his team to a 20 point victory.

In a game that featured over 35 fouls called on the Sheldon, it still wasn't enough for Del Campo to stay in the game due to Nelson's ability to simply take over. After averaging 33 points, 13 rebounds, and nine assists as a junior at Vallejo High, Nelson opened his Sheldon career with a 30 point, 10 rebound, and seven assist effort in the 68-48 victory.

Notable figures in the gym included Sacramento's Bobby Jackson and the Cleveland Indian's C.C. Sabathia.
