"I committed to Duke," says the 6-foot, 210 pounder who ran a 4.44 40 yard dash and 4.14 shuttle time over the summer. "I just decided that it was the best place for me. If I had a career-ending injury or something, I know that I can get a degree that can really help me a lot.
"I really, really liked the coaching staff, the state is great, and the academics are great. I got to tour the facilities, hang out with some of the players, talk to the coaches and faculty members. Overall, it was great."
Ball was thought by some schools as a fullback, but Duke likes his abilities to make plays. The speed and strength combo could prove very impressive.
"I am going to start at offense at tailback and then maybe move to defense if things don't work out."
