Duke goes to Maryland for commit

Duke went into Maryland for a big man with good feet, great size, and good offers to boot.

"I'm going to be a Blue Devil next year," says McDonough (MD) offensive lineman Cameron Goldberg, a 6-foot-4, 260 pounder. "Well, I really liked Coach Roof a lot. His getting the job meant a lot to me. I really liked the way he coaches and motivates. I like the guys on the team and what they have to say, and I really like Duke football."

Goldberg was watching when then-interim coach Ted Roof was announced into the position formally, and the moment was special.

"He is a real honest guy, and real into family. That means a lot to me. He's a competitor that wants to win."

As for Goldberg, he is a tenacious player on offense as well as defense.

"I play on both sides of the ball, but I'm being recruited to Duke to play on the offensive line. I like to hit people. I play right tackle right now, but we are not sure which tackle I will play."

Goldberg had visits scheduled to Virginia and Stanford, but he is not going to take those any more.

"I also had offers from Cal-Berkley and Stanford."
