Bass Named ACC Player of the Week

Duke University sophomore Mistie Bass was named ACC Player of the Week on Monday after collecting her second double-double of the season on Sunday in a 90-36 victory over Tulsa in Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Bass registered a career-best 12 rebounds and tied a career high with 21 points and three blocks in the victory. The Janesville, Wis., product hit 7-of-8 field goals and 7-of-11 free throws against the Golden Hurricanes, while recording two assists and one steal.

The center is now shooting 69.4 percent from the field for the season, which leads the ACC. She is also averaging a career-best 13.4 points and 6.0 rebounds, which ranks ninth and tied for 12th in the ACC, respectively.

The honor for Bass is the first of her career and marks the third time a Duke player has won the honor out of four Player of the Week selections this season ( Alana Beard won on Nov. 24 and Dec. 1).

Duke (6-1) will next travel to Shreveport, La., to play against Northwestern State on Dec. 20 at 1:00 p.m. The game will mark homecoming for Beard. North Carolina's Ivory Latta was named ACC Rookie of the Week also on Monday.
