Hansbrough Back; Not Yet 100%

After being forced to the sidelined with an injury before his senior season started, Poplar Bluff High School standout Tyler Hansbrough was anxious to get back on the court. In his first game back the 6-foot-10 Missouri big man showed why he's got many of the nation's elite programs chasing him by scoring 38 points and pulling down 11 rebounds.

"It was really good to get back on the court," said Tyler Hansbrough. "I think I played well – I scored 38 points and had eleven rebounds even though I did get pretty winded since my stamina isn't as good as everyone else's."

After straining his Achilles and missing the first five games of the season, Hansbrough went to work hitting 15 of his 23 shot attempts from the field, while converting 8-of-10 from the free throw line to help the Mules to a 76-60 victory. By halftime he had almost outscored his opponents by himself, logging 27 in the first half to Dexter High's 33.

Perhaps the scary thing is that Hansbrough says he's not completely recovered from the injury that has slowed him.

"I'd say my injury is about 90 percent healed. The biggest thing I need to work on is getting into game shape, but the soreness isn't there any more. The stamina will come as I keep playing."

On the recruiting front it's the same cast of characters that have long been associated with Hansbrough including Duke, Florida, North Carolina, Missouri, Kansas, Arizona, Kentucky, and Illinois. The Blue Devils will get a mid April official visit, and then there is Florida.

"I think I may be going to Florida the weekend of January 10th for a visit, but I haven't been able to get it finalized yet. I'm going to Duke for their banquet in April, but those are the only two schools I've gotten anything set up with."
