Injured McClure and Trinity Roll

After opening the Glaxo tournament with a strong 20 point, 10 rebound performance, future Blue Devil David McClure spent Monday afternoon helping his Trinity Catholic team to yet another big win by contributing 13 points, nine rebounds, and three blocks. However there may be some bad news on the horizon for the 6-foot-6 Connecticut forward.

For the second time in as many games the Crusaders were simply too talented for their overmatched opponent, Chatham Central. Trinity Catholic jumped out to a nine point opening quarter lead, before an 11-0 spurt extended the lead to 34-13 at the half.

"We knew about Thompson, who is going to Old Dominion, and we tried to key in on him defensively," said David McClure. "We started a little slow offensively, but our defensive effort was really good and that led to easy baskets for us. Our guard, Garret James (16 points, 8 rebounds), had his best game of the season tonight, and that was key for us."

In the second half it was more of the same as Trinity Catholic continued to execute on both ends of the floor, extending the lead to as many as 43 before finally settling in with a 41 point victory, 73-32. For his part McClure said he was generally pleased with his performance, but there may be some bad news forthcoming for the future Blue Devil.

"I had my foot wrapped today and it's pretty sore. I just got it looked at by the trainers, and they say it's something on the top of my foot. It may just be a strain, but they think it could also be a stress fracture. I am going to get X-rays to confirm what it is."

Note: As of early Tuesday morning the official results are yet to be released, though it seemed that the diagnosis of a stress fracture seemed to be gaining momentum according to various sources close to the situation.
