Despite a slow start all around, Christian Brothers Academy got a lift from star point guard Greg Paulus to rally and beat Bishop Hannon of Scranton, PA 75-72 in the opening round of the Cherundolo, Bottar & Leone Holiday Classic. Paulus finished the game with 25 points and 10 assists.
After trailing early, CBA rallied to find themselves locked in a war with Hannon. The teams were separated by just a point heading into halftime with CBA leading 38-37 thanks to a layup as time expired.
The second half saw CBA extend the lead in the third quarter to as many as eight before holding on to a three point advantage heading into the final period. There, it was Paulus' free throw shooting that made the difference. The Duke bound junior converted 12-of-15 free throw attempts as CBA held on for the three point win.
On the night Paulus finished with 25 points, 10 assists, and four rebounds for 4-0 CBA.
