Paulus and CBA Drop First of the Season

Despite a season high 39 points from future Blue Devil Greg Paulus, Christian Brothers Academy fell to Jamesville-DeWitt 79-70 Tuesday night. Paulus, who is already CBA's all time leading scorer, logged 39 points in the defeat.

After battling with Scranton, PA's Bishop Hannon on Monday, CBA returned to the floor to face off against Jamesville-Dewitt in the Christian Brothers Academy Holiday Classic in a match up of two undefeated teams.

CBA started off strong and jumped out to a five point lead after one quarter of play only to see the Red Rams storm back to take a commanding double-figure lead before Paulus ripped off five straight points to cut the lead to 39-33 at the break. The third quarter saw CBA fall back a bit more, ending with the score 49-40.

The fourth, and final, period saw both teams executing at the highest level of their games, combing for 60 points in an eight minute stretch including 10 by Paulus, who was able to convert four long range bombs and 11 of his 14 free throw attempts.

Despite making several runs in an effort to narrow the gap, CBA was always met with a counter punch which eventually spelled the difference as the Brothers dropped to 4-1 on the season.
