Things keep on rolling for future Blue Devil David McClure and Trinity Catholic. Tuesday night the undefeated Crusaders continued their winning ways with a resounding 71-45 victory over Westhill. For his part, McClure finished with 12 points, 10 rebounds, and eight blocks while shutting down the opponent's leading scorer.
"They had a kid, A.J. Stephens, who had been really scoring a whole lot so far this season," said McClure. "Our coach's game plan was to try and shut him down and force the other players to beat us."
That's exactly what happened as McClure recorded four blocks on Stephens while checking him for most of the first half as Trinity raced out to an early 15 point lead. Once the game was securely in hand, the Duke bound senior moved off Stephens, after holding him to just four points in the first half.
The victory improves Trinity to 7-0 overall and 4-0 in the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference, while maintaining the state's top spot in the rankings.
