Roof Lands Another Georgia Stud

For the second straight weekend it looks like Blue Devil head coach Ted Roof and the Duke coaching staff have racked up with some big name recruits. Despite spending the weekend at hometown favorite Georgia Tech, this Georgia prospect had his mind made up in Durham last week.

I just committed to Duke," said Chris Davis. "I got along with both groups of guys very well. It was really just a feeling I got when I went to Duke. It wasn't anything I can put my finger on. I feel comfortable at both Duke and Tech."

Indeed the Yellow Jackets were thought to be the odds on favorite for the 6-foot-0, 178 pound safety, but after last weekend's trip to Durham and most notably the Yow building it was over in Davis' mind.

"The highlight of my trip was probably going into the locker room and seeing my helmet and my name on my locker. They also had my name on my jersey set up, and I kind of liked that."

As a senior at the Marist school in Atlanta, Davis played both the running back and safety position, though he may even look to make the transition to wide receiver at Duke thanks to an impressive 34-inch vertical jump and 4.59 forty time.

Either way Davis is looking forward to getting to Duke and getting a start at becoming a Blue Devil.

"Everything came together for me at Duke. I would love to stay close to home for my family to come see me play at Georgia Tech, but the question was really, do I want to stay in the city where I've grown up my whole life, or do I want to see something new? The school there is just great, and the college town atmosphere is just great."
