Another GA Athlete Becomes A Dukie

It took just a little over a week, but Jabari Marshall finally has come to a decision when it comes to the next four years of his life. The 5-foot-11, 170 pound Mays (GA) High defensive back has chosen to join head coach Ted Roof and Duke.

"I committed to Duke," said Jabari Marshall in an interview with "I like the upcoming schedule, the academics, and the environment up there. I went there last weekend for an official visit. I had some other visits set up, but I don't think I'm going. I'm set on going to Duke."

After returning home from a visit to South Carolina, Marshall waisted no time in calling coach Roof and informing him of the news.

It was the culmination of a long recruitment according to the newest Blue Devil.

"Duke was the first school to offer me a scholarship," said Marshall. "Since then I had also gotten offers from Illinois,Notre Dame, South Carolina, and Mississippi State."

After watching a lot of tape the Blue Devils pulled the trigger on the offer back on November 21 in hopes of adding another speedster to the defensive secondary.

Speedster is probably the best adjective for Marshall, who routinely clocks in at 4.5 seconds or less in the forty.

During the season Marshall says he logged over 800 return yards, along with 47 tackles, and the seven interceptions. He also spent time on the offensive side of the ball, catching nine passes for 99 yards and a pair of scores.
