Livingston Gets Defensive in Win

Despite a slow start defensively the Peoria Lions, led by Shaun Livingston, were able to get past underdog Woodruff 77-60 to improve to 15-1 on the season. Livingston led the way with 14 points, five assists, and four rebounds.

Early on it seemed the Lions' opponent couldn't miss from the floor as the Warriors jumped out to a six point lead and kept the margin there for most of the first quarter, prompting Peoria head coach Chuck Buescher to call a timeout after Peoria fell behind 20-15 with just over one minute remaining.

From that point the Lions would wake up and play lockdown defense, keyed by Livingston's three steals. From that point until halftime the Lions held the Warriors to just nine points while scoring 32 to take a 47-29 intermission lead.

Shaun Livingston's Complete Statline: 14 points, five assists, four blocks, four rebounds and three steals.
