It seems that opponents have taken an old saying and modified is slightly when it comes to competing against future Blue Devil DeMarcus Nelson. Instead of "If you can't beat them, join them" the new saying is "If you can't beat them, beat them." Despite a rash of physical play Nelson still managed to finish with a triple-double.
Against Elk Grove High the Sheldon Huskies had to practice restraint as their opponents were called for a number of intentional fouls that resulted in five near fights. Despite being the major target of the physical play, Nelson still recorded 30 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists.
Perhaps the two dirtiest plays came when Nelson attempted to drive only to be grabbed around the neck and pushed to the deck hard. Shortly there after, Nelson was undercut on a rebound attempt resulting in another crash landing, though he did manage to avoid injury.
The victory keep Sheldon perfect in league play and all but assures the Huskies of a birth in the playoffs. So far they remain ranked on top of the Northern California prep rankings.
