Signing Day 2004: Charles Robinson

For Duke to be able to continue to keep up with the increased quality of the ACC it will be important to establish recruiting lines in the hotbed states. The Blue Devils began that process with a commitment from Riverview (FL) standout Charles Robinson.

"I picked Duke over offers from East Carolina, Hofstra, and Southern Illinois," said Riverview standout Charles Robinson. "I had a really good visit there and felt comfortable, so I did it."

At 6-2, 200 pounds, Robinson brings the ability to play a variety of positions thanks to his strength and 4.5 time in the forty yard dash.

He is expected to challenge for time in the defensive secondary and is expected to be able to add an additional 20 pounds to his frame.

Former Riverview standout and current Duke assistant Jon Haskins was instrumental in recruiting the 6-foot-2, 190-pound Robinson, who could play a variety of positions.

Robinson spent most of last season at linebacker, but also played in the offensive backfield.

He was nominated for the Herald-Tribune's Sarasota Player of the Week award five times.

"(Robinson) comes from a good family and has a good work ethic," said Riverview head coach John Sprague. "He's such a good kid that (Duke) couldn't turn him down."
