Future Blue Devil DeMarcus Nelson and the Sheldon Huskies have seemingly figured out the chemistry problems, which plagued them early on in the season as Sheldon easily beat Merced to open the 2004 HS playoffs.
Nelson started the game on a mission, scoring 14 points in the first quarter before finishing with a game high 29 points as the Huskies pounded 16th seeded Merced 82-52 in the first round of the Sac-Joaquin Sectional Playoffs.
The 29 points move the future Blue Devil's career total to 3,290 points, which is only 69 shy of the all-time California record held by Darnell Robinson of Emery High.
Nelson and the Huskies' playoff run continues next week in the quarterfinals of the sectional playoff against eighth seeded Beyer.
