Devils Thump State 90-57

Alana Beard had 22 points and 11 assists and Brittany Hunter scored 20 points and pulled down 10 rebounds as Duke (24-3, 15-1 ACC) defeated North Carolina State (16-13, 8-8 ACC) by a 90-57 score here Monday night to close out the regular season.

N.C. State pulled to within seven points at 29-22 with just under four minutes remaining in the first half before Hunter scored eight straight points in just under two minutes and Beard scored four right before the half to give Duke a 41-24 lead heading into halftime.

Beard continued her solid play into the second half, scoring eight points in the first four minutes to push the lead to 53-32. Jessica Foley hit two three-pointers late while Alison Bales went 4-of-4 from the line in the final four mintues to push the lead up above 30 points.

Mistie Bass hit 6-of-8 field goals for 13 points and added five rebounds for the Blue Devils. Vicki Krapohl hit three three-pointers for nine points while Iciss Tillis scored eight points and grabbed six rebounds.

Kaayla Chones led N.C. State with 15 points and eight rebounds while Kendra Bell added 11 points for the Wolfpack.

The last regular season game in the ACC shored up this weekend's ACC Tournament. Duke will be the No. 1 seed and play the winner of No. 8 Georgia Tech and No. 9 Wake Forest on 12 p.m. Saturday. Tech and Wake play at 11 a.m. Friday in the first round.
