McClure Helps Trinity Win Again

Future Blue Devil David McClure and the Trinity Catholic Crusaders continued their run towards back to back titles with a gusty victory over Hamden in the first round of the state tournament.

McClure was keyed in on from the start on the offensive end by the Green Dragons, who refused to be intimidated by the undefeated Crusaders. The Hamden defense continually fronted the Duke bound senior, forcing him into a rough 6-of-16 performance from the field en route to 13 points on the night.

However the savvy future Blue Devil was able to make his presence known on the opposite end of the floor, and in the battle of the boards. McClure finished with three blocks, three steals, and a season high 17 rebounds.

The Crusaders were down early, and found themselves able to rally before a Hamden spurt re-established the Dragons' lead at 39-37 midway through the third quarter. At that point the Crusaders turned on the offense, going on a 17-2 run to put the game away.

Trinity hosts Career Magnet in Monday's quarterfinal round. They have now won 48 straight consecutive games, including all 24 this season.
