Nelson Keeps Sheldon Rolling

Before he brings his ample game to Duke, future Blue Devil DeMarcus Nelson has his eyes set on driving the Sheldon Huskies to a state championship. The 6-foot-4 All American took yet another step in that direction on Thursday night in a 64-58 win over Newark Memorial High.

The victory propels the Huskies into the California state tournament's final four, which will be played at Arco Arena. There Sheldon will face off against the nation's 23rd ranked team La Salle of Concord, CA in the Northern California final portion of the tournament.

To get there the Huskies found themselves in a battle with Newark in front of the sold-out crowd at Folsom High School.

After holding a slight lead for most of the game, the Huskies quickly found themselves on the wrong end of a fall down prayer from three that fell for Newark to tie that game at 44 heading to the fourth quarter.

At that point it was up to Nelson to put his team on his back. So the state's all-time leading scorer quickly added a pair of big baskets, and three big blocks inside against the Newark post players to finish with 24 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists, and three blocks.
