Perhaps the Peoria Central High School Lions were looking ahead in the Illinois high school playoffs. Or perhaps they weren't worried about a team they had beaten by nearly 40 earlier this season. However, midway through the first quarter the Lions found themselves down 8-0 to Mt. Zion. Then future Blue Devil Shaun Livingston rallied his team.
From that point Livingston and his Lion teammates picked up the effort on both ends of the floor to rally, before being saddled with a second foul on a questionable reach-in call. The 6-foot-7 point guard would take a back seat to teammate Brandon Lee
's offensive display that put the Lions up comfortably at intermission.
The second half saw Livingston return to the court and immediate begin looking for his offense. The future Blue Devil found it in a number of ways including post ups, transition, and midrange jumpers en route to a game high 17 points, five rebounds, seven assists, and three blocks.
The final score ended up at 69-54 in favor of the Lions. The win improved Peoria to 29-2 on the season, and moved them into the state quarterfinal against former Blue Devil Corey Maggette's alma mater Chicago Farragut, which stands at 29-3 on the year.
