Devils Drop In On Top Sophomore

The Duke Blue Devils didn't waste any time getting back onto the recruiting trail. Word has it that the Devils sent an assistant coach to Nashville Thursday afternoon to reaffirm an early interest in, perhaps, the nation's best player in the class of 2006.

Duke assistant coach Steve Wojciechowski paid a visit to sophomore standout Brandan Wright, a 6-foot-8 195 pound sophomore forward, who is rated among the top three prospects in the country by and Dave Telep.

After a sophomore season that ended with another state title and averages of 23 points, 12 rebounds, and six blocks per game, Wright's stock has continued to climb, earning interest from every major program in the country.

However it's an elite group of five that have the inside track according to the talented forward including Duke, North Carolina, Kentuck, Indiana, and Louisville.

"I like Duke because of the tradition and all the great players that came out of the program," Wright told TDD of his interest in the Blue Devils' program last month. "They have a lot of good players right now. Coach K will be a Hall of Famer one day."

So has this week's visit changed anything in his eyes?

"Not much has changed with Duke. They are still one of my top five schools. We mainly just talked about me as a player. Coach Wojo told me that Coach K would try to get up with me really soon, and that I am the kind of player Duke likes."

Wright will be on hand at the Boo Williams tournament this weekend in Hampton, VA. Stay tuned to TDD for complete coverage.
