17-and-under championships – Georgia Stars 67, Illinois Warriors 64 (2004 champions); Alabama Select 57, Wisconsin Playground Warriors 54 (Silver Division)
Louis Williams, SG, Georgia Stars: The Stars won the championship on a day when Louis didn't make a single jumpshot in the finale. He finished with 19 points off drives and stick backs and was deservingly named the MVP of the event. He was a big time scorer here and went 8-for-13 from the field in the title game.
Richard Hendrix, PF, Alabama Select: There's little he didn't do this weekend. Hendrix carried his team to the Silver Division championship. In the semifinal, he went off for 25 points and 22 rebounds AND he hit a 3-pointer. He had the most impressive weekend of anyone here.
Kevin Rogers, PF, Team Texas: He battled Hendrix gamely before running out of gas in the closing minutes. Rogers used skill and savvy to for 19 points and 8 boards against Alabama. He did wonders to establish himself as a legit Top 50 high-major type at the very least. He was very impressive and showed no fear against Hendrix.
Calvin Baker, SG, BWSL 16s: All he did was make the game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer to send him team into the finals of his age group. Baker was the final cut from the main Boo team and he's a very good shooter.
Calvin Miles, SF, Team Texas: More than once at this event he showed flashes. He's probably getting used to the level of competition and he'll hit his stride by the end of the month. On Sunday, he went to work in traffic, showed body control and looked like a big time wing in the morning loss.
Larry Davis, SF, Metro Hawks 16s: His runner in the paint with under a second to go appeared to be the game-winner before Baker's heroics. The Christ The King product blew up in the second half with his perimeter touch and mid-range accuracy.
