Devils Working Hard For FL DB/WR

Before the coaching changes and the rededication to the football program, Duke's main attraction on the gridiron was a top flight education. Now that the program is back on the rise, the Blue Devils are attracting some top talent that's still interested in the benefits off the field.

"Early on I like Duke, Harvard, Boston College, Princeton, and North Carolina," said Hollywood Christian standout WR/S Marvin Marcelin. "Of those schools, Duke is recruiting me the hardest."

Though Marcelin is just being identified by the media, he's been a hot commodity in the coaching world for a while.

At 6-foot-1 and 175 pounds, he stars in the defensive backfield for HCS. He also proved to be a pretty good receiver last season, hauling in 10 catches for over 170 yards and three touchdowns despite the offense being nearly a full time ground attack.

Academics will play the major role in his decision, and with a list like his you can expect Marcelin's off the field resume to be as strong as his on the field achievements. However, they're stronger.

Marvin sports a 4.7 grade point average, and has taken the SAT for the first time.

"That's the most important thing for me," said Marcelin of his studies. "I want to major in Biology in college.

What does Marvin feel he does best on the football field?

"At safety I think I'm good in coverage. I need to work on my explosion."

Heading into his senior season, Marcelin is expecting big things from his HCS senior squad.

"We went 9-2 last season. I think we have a good chance to win the district this year."
