Hansbrough Speaks On UK Visit

Poplar Bluff (MO) High power forward Tyler Hansbrough, one of the elite players in the Class of 2005, has taken four visits already. He's the latest on his visit to Kentucky.

It's been a busy year for Tyler Hansbrough. The 6-8 Poplar Bluff star won a state title and then immediately hit the recruiting trail hard. So far, he's already taken four of his five NCAA-allowable official visits.

Last weekend, Hansbrough stopped by the campus of the University of Kentucky for his official visit. Remember, he's already been to North Carolina, Missouri and Florida.

"Well, I went to the horse races so that was pretty cool," Hansbrough said. "I played pickup ball in the morning. Patrick Sparks was my host and he showed me around campus. I had a nice talk with Coach Smith about where I fit in and who they have coming in. It'd be a heckuva team if I went there with the players they have coming up."

Hansbrough said he learned a little about the culture of UK basketball while he was down there.

"I didn't know how crazy people are about basketball. Everywhere you went, everyone knew the basketball players and Coach Smith. It was just crazy. Someone walked up to me and started talking to me like he knew me and I didn't even know who it was."

Lexington is just one of those places where everybody knows hoops. It seemed to leave a positive impression on Tyler, though he says he's not done making visits.

Duke and Kansas are the schools, according to Hansbrough, that are in the hunt for the final official visit. "It's kind of wide open right now. I don't really know [who to visit] yet."

Hansbrough declined to name a leader at this point saying that he doesn't think anyone has surged ahead.
